This SN was discovered by LOSS

(IAUC 8396)</a> on August 29, 2004, and was absent on August 25, 
2004, so discovered shortly after explosion.<br>

The host galaxy 
<a href="http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/nph-objsearch?objname=ngc+6387&extend=no&out_csys=Equatorial&out_equinox=J2000.0&obj_sort=RA+or+Longitude&of=pre_text&zv_breaker=30000.0&list_limit=5&img_stamp=YES">NGC 6387 
(eastern component of this interacting pair)</a> 
is at z=0.028350 (NED).<br>
