This SN was discovered by LOSS
<a href="http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/08400/08452.html#item2"> 
(IAUC 8452)</a> on December 11, 2004, and absent on December 4, 2004, 
so discovered rather young.<br> 
<br>
The host galaxy 
<a href="http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/nph-objsearch?objname=ngc+1832&extend=no&out_csys=Equatorial&out_equinox=J2000.0&obj_sort=RA+or+Longitude&of=pre_text&zv_breaker=30000.0&list_limit=5&img_stamp=YES">NGC 1832</a> 
is at z=0.006468 (NED).<br>

Spectrum reported by Filippenko et al. (IAUC 8452) shows this is a type Ic SN.
