SN 2005cp:<br>

This SN was discovered by Wolfgang Kloehr
(IAUC 8550)</a> on June 27, 2005, and absent on June 21, 2005, so discovered young.
Spectroscopy by Modjaz and collaborators indicates young II.<br>

The host galaxy 
<a href="http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/nph-objsearch?objname=m+51&extend=no&out_csys=Equatorial&out_equinox=J2000.0&obj_sort=RA+or+Longitude&of=pre_text&zv_breaker=30000.0&list_limit=5&img_stamp=YES">M51</a> 
is at z=0.002 (v=600 km/s; NED).<br>

Spectrum reported by Modjaz et al. (CBET 174) shows this is a young type II SN.
