About me

I obtained my diploma in engineering physics in 2002, a master and PhD in Sciences in 2004 and 2006, respectively, all from the University of Liege (Belgium). I was a Marie Curie fellow at the Paris-Meudon Observatory and Institut d’Astrophysique Spatiale in Orsay between 2002 and 2004. After a NASA postdoc at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory-California Institute of Technology in 2007, I became JPL staff scientist in 2009. I then joined ESO as a VLT staff astronomer and high contrast imaging specialist in 2011, became NACO and VISIR deputy instrument scientist, adaptive optics coordinator for the VLT, and the Paranal instrument scientist of SPHERE in 2012. I helped SPHERE, a second-generation adaptive optics exoplanet imager, complete its full commissioning and “Paranalization” in 2014. SPHERE started regular operations in early 2015.

I joined the Caltech faculty in late January 2015 as Associate Professor of Astronomy (Full Professor since December 2019), and Senior Research Scientist at JPL.
