On the alternate site, use the caltech anonymous ftp account, just go:
ftp ftp.astro.caltech.edu

If the caltech site does not work, you can also try an anonymous ftp site at cassfos02.ucsd.edu (with a newer version of makee), just go:
ftp cassfos02.ucsd.edu

get makee-apr01.tar.gz
bye
