GRBOX is being released to a limited pre-release for beta-testing. There are features known to not be working correctly or as anticipated that will hopefully be fixed at a later date (when the designer has more time!) Still, we would appreciate knowledge of any undocumented problems as well as suggestions for the most useful way to further expand the website. In addition, egregious bugs, errors of factual information, and missing information should be corrected as quickly as possible.
Therefore, if you experience any of these problems, please don't hesitate to e-mail dperley@astro.berkeley.edu explaining the problem or suggestion.
However, please do first check the following list of known bugs and planned improvements.
Known Bugs / Problems
When downloading raw XML, Butler positions, etc. are not always properly modified.
Some IPN error box sizes and centers are only approximate.
Observability highlighting is not very accurate.
'Detecting instrument' is defined inconsistently when multiple satellites detect a burst.
Text files do not apply all the same filters.
Peak optical flux is only from GCN circulars in GRBlog. GRBlog has not been updated since January 2009.
Reference list is incomplete - please help by sending in links to ADS abstract pages!
While it is possible to sort by #references and X-ray flux by clicking on the link, resubmission of the form will randomize the burst order unless the order is respecified.
The page can be extremely slow (when many years are combined) due to poor optimization.
Planned Improvements
Re-prioritize older (pre-2007) bursts.
Improve commentary (please do send suggestions)
Choice of 'strong' or 'weak' cuts when there are substantial errors in or only limits on E_peak or T90.
Archive of online finding charts
Automatic addition of new GRBs from satellite triggers
Complete catalog of IPN bursts, including those not in the GCNs
Add Keck host magnitudes
Polygon error 'circle' in KML.
(Hopefully) Allow user to paste a list of bursts into a window and only display those bursts.
Burst-specific pages
Cookie compatibility: save defaults
We are also eager to accept updates of positions, redshifts, etc. not reflected in the database: the aim is to cite the most accurate information available for each burst. Additional commentary on interesting features of specific bursts to help make the one-line summaries more useful are also greatly appreciated.
