---+ March 7, 2024 8-10 PM *Event Type*: [[PublicLectures][Lecture and Stargazing]]
*Title*: Uncovering the History of the Universe with Radio Astronomy
*Lecturer*: Ruby Byrne
*Position*: NSF Postdoctoral Fellow
*Institution*: Caltech
*Abstract*:
Cosmology aims to explain the origins of our universe. Much like an archaeologist discovering artifacts from the distant past, observational cosmologists search for signals from space that are relics from our universe’s ancient history. In particular, we look for light from distant objects that was emitted millions or billions of years ago. In this talk, Dr. Ruby Byrne will describe how these observations inform our current understanding of the universe’s origins. She will describe how modern radio telescopes like the OVRO-LWA are continuing this legacy and helping fill in gaps in our cosmic history.
