September 19-21, 2025
Event Type: Special Event
Great Basin Astronomy Festival
We will be assisting with the Great Basin National Park Astronomy Festival to take place Friday-Sunday September 19-21.
Our primary responsibilities will be to run two Astronomy on Tap events there.
GBNP will provide us with gas money to cover our transportation and a campsite for each of us in the educator
campsite at Grey Cliffs Group Site.
Drive time from Caltech to Baker, NV is about 8h depending on the route and time of day.
Everyone needs to have their own camping equipment (or teaming up with a buddy).
Temperatures in the campsite are pleasant during the day (70-80F) but can be cold
and breezy at night (40-50F). You will want a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, etc. You can rent
these at the Caltech Y, or REI, or bring your own.
